International Genetically Engineered Machine Competition (iGEM) 2025
Exciting news from the STTSS iGEM team!
After a tense judging session and months of hard work, we are proud to announce that we have attained the Gold Medal at the 2025 International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) Competition.
The iGEM competition is a global synthetic biology competition that aims to solve authentic problems by genetic engineering.
Our project, ColoTrace, developed a diagnostic tool for early colorectal cancer (CRC) detection using engineered toehold switches in bacteria to identify CRC-related microRNAs, demonstrating significant clinical potential for CRC diagnosis. Competing against over 400 teams from 44 countries, we presented our project at the Paris Expo.
Thank you to our Principal, assistant principals, all the teachers, parents and alumni who supported us on this Biotech Journey!
