The 40th Thanksgiving Service & Speech Day of Shatin Tsung Tsin Secondary School (hereinafter referred to as STTSS) was successfully held in the School Hall on 4th July 2026.
The event started with the Thanksgiving Service in which Reverend Johnson Wing-hang Ho delivered a sermon to all STTSS graduands on the topic “Please Enter Prompt: God is Not in iCloud.” In Rev. Ho’s sermon, which revolved around Proverbs 16:9, he reminded graduands that while technology may store what we have done in the past, God guides every step of our way now and in the future. He then expressed his hope that the graduands will let God into their life and he encouraged parents to keep their children company and seek God’s guidance together with them. He ended the sermon by urging all graduands to live a wonderful life that AI cannot replicate.
After the Thanksgiving Service, the Speech Day officially began with the Supervisor of STTSS, Ms. Joyce Lok-yan Man, extending a warm welcome to all guests. After taking a moment to recall the challenges that Class 2026 went through and overcame collectively, she reminded all graduands to turn their mind and energy to what gives them the most meaning, put their trust in the Lord, and acknowledge their loved ones’ support for them. Ms. Man also expressed appreciation for all parents and staff members, whose support had been instrumental to students’ success.
The ceremony then continued with the Annual Report by the Principal, Ms. Irene Kit-yin Leung. She reminded all graduands about the importance of relentless effort and resilience, as well as expressing her hope that all of them will take away with them the insights from the school’s sharing of Bible verses and hymns over the course of their studies. She concluded her report by presenting a short video which captured many special and moving moments of the graduands throughout their six years at STTSS. Not only did it witness their growth, but it also displayed their bond with each other and their teachers throughout this long and fruitful journey.
Mr Arthur Hei-wei Lam, Vice President of Tsung Tsin Mission Hong Kong, was invited as the Guest of Honour to share invaluable words of wisdom with all the graduands. In his address, he emphasized the importance of love, which starts with kindness, a moral obligation as important as people’s legal rights. He urged graduands to practice kindness in their everyday life with three Hs – to use the knowledge in their Heads to help others, to open their Hearts to those who are vulnerable, and to brighten up others’ days with simple acts of kindness with their Hands. He ended his speech by expressing his hope that the graduands will make their choices in life with the guidance of love and that they will be the kind of person who acts kindly even when it is difficult to do so. The graduands were greatly moved and inspired by his sharing.
The presentation of graduation certificates then followed. The graduands received their certificates from Mr Lam with heartfelt gratitude, officially becoming graduates. Additionally, students with outstanding performance in various fields were awarded certificates and scholarships, which were presented by the members of the Incorporated Management Committee of STTSS. Their achievements were highly appreciated and recognized with resounding applause from the guests.
The Speech Day came to an end with a vote of thanks brimming with passion and sincerity delivered by the graduate representative Mr. Linus Cheuk-yin Chan. Reflecting on the act of giving thanks, he expressed gratitude to the “TTS” in his and his fellow graduates’ lives – their Teachers, for imparting to them valuable knowledge and providing them with a wide variety of activities and experiences; their Troops, meaning their schoolmates, for supporting each other through hardships; and their Shepherds, referring to their parents, for protecting them and celebrating their effort. At the end, he urged his fellow graduates to keep their T, T, and S close to their hearts as they step into the future.
The ceremony ended with hymn singing by all and a benediction by Rev. Ho.
After the ceremony, all guests, parents, and graduates enjoyed a light-hearted afternoon on the school playground, taking pictures and reminiscing about their days in STTSS.
